Bina Sabapathy

President

Bina was born and brought up at Udupi, in Karnataka. She had her early education at St. Cecily’s Girls High School and had her bachelor degree from S. P. P. College, Udupi, Mysore University. Bina majored in Economics, History and Sociology. Bina excelled in her studies and achieved many awards and recognition during her school years. Besides being a good student Bina was a good dancer and singer in her early childhood days.

Bina’s community service started in her very young age. Growing up in a small and close knit community, she got the chance to help and serve many in the community in various ways, from shopping to baby sitting to the needy in the community and she enjoyed all that.

Bina worked in a major financial institution before migrating to USA. Back home Bina was a active member of many Organizations, like Lions Club, Jaycees, Bantara yane Nadavara Sangha, Bharatiya Janata Party etc. Way before Hon. Modi started Swaccha Bharat Bina started Swaccha neighborhood with all the children in the community in cleaning the neighborhood.

Bina married to V. K. Sabapathy an engineer by profession, migrated to USA in 1985. She is the mother of three beautiful children. First born Kalpana Sabapathy ( daughter ) a Lawyer, son Karthik Sabapathy ( a physician ) and the last one Karunya Sabapathy ( daughter) BS.in Phycology.

Bina even after migrating to USA, with full time job and family never gave up her interest in Community Service. She is a devotee of Vedic Heritage since 1986 and currently serving as Trust Board Member. Bina actively involved in India Association of Long Island and served in various capacities from member at Large, Treasurer, Vice President and in the year 2017 she served the organization as President.

Being a pure vegetarian, Bina headed Vegetarian Vision ( now known as World Vegan Vision) as President for 2018 & 2019.
She is the Vice Chair of Indo American Festivals, Inc, and played a key role in hosting Dushahra Festival & Ganesh Mahostav for the first time in Long Island.

Bina is also active member of Indian American Forum, Vice President for India Day Parade, Advisor for FBIMA & Long Island Ladies Circle, life member of Plainview Bethpage Rotary Club, Long Island League to Abolish Cancer. SAAWA, SAPAC, SAWAO, Tamil Sangam, TLCA and Kannada Koota.

Bina hopes to continue her service to the community under INDIA ASSOCIATION OF LONG ISLAND ,with likewise minded members on the Board.
